Train hits auto, driver killed

An auto-rickshaw driver was

killed

today after a speeding train rammed into his vehicle at an unmanned railway crossing in Bihar's Saharsa district, a railway official said.

The mishap took place at the unmanned crossing at Sarva dhala located close to Saharsa railway station as the speeding 12204 Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express rammed into an auto-rickshaw, while it was trying to cross the tracks, Saharsa station superintendent Naveen Chandra Yadav said.

The auto-rickshaw driver, identified as Sikandar Chaudhary, a native of Gamaria Bazar in neighbouring Madhepura district died on the spot, he said.

The ill-fated three-wheeler also turned turtle due to the impact, Yadav said adding, the train later on reached Saharsa station.
