A tribal couple was hacked to death by unknown persons at Chungusahi village in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, police said today. The incident happened last night.
The deceased were identified as Madhu Kala(45) and Somabari Kala(40).
Police said, the victims along with their 12-year old son were taken away on some pretext to a nearby field about 100 meters away from their home where the couple was brutally hacked and stoned to death.
Their son also sustained injuries.
The culprits fled the scene soon after committing the crime.
The couple was murdered over some disputes, Govinda Chandra Mallick, additional SP, Rairangpur said. Some persons have been detained.
