Arjun Tudu once again stole the show by scoring four goals, including a perfect hat-trick, as Army Red posted a comprehensive 7-1 win over Bengal Engineering Group (BEG) in their Pool C Preliminary qualifying round match of 127th Durand Cup here today.
Army Red, who dominated throughout the match, scored through Shadip Rai (32nd), substitute Dipen Thapa (60th, 90th) and Arjun Tudu (71st, 82nd, 88th and 90+2) to complete the rout at the Signals ground, Navelim here.
At the receiving end for major part of the match, BEG reduced the margin through Vijay Pal Singh in the 77th minute.
Having started aggressively, the Red took the lead in the 32nd minute when Rai headed home a cross from the right by Lallian Mania to made it 1-0 in favour of the Armymen at half time.
After the change of ends, Army Red continued with their fine show and netted the ball as many as six more times.
Sesa Football Academy, who got a walk-over after Oil India failed to turn up, will now meet Army Red in the quarter-finals on October 25.
