Amid sluggish domestic demand and adequate stocks position, turmeric prices drifted 0.98 per cent to Rs 6,676 per quintal in futures trading today as participants cut down their bets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in far-month April fell Rs 66, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 6,676 per quintal with an open interest of 13,530 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in May traded lower by Rs 58, or 0.86 per cent, to Rs 6,696 per quintal in 3,955 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by traders on the back of sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing belts dragged down turmeric prices at futures trade.
