Turmeric up by 1.16% in futures trade

Turmeric prices were up by 1.16 per cent to Rs 8,386 per quintal in futures trading today as participants enlarged positions, driven by upsurge in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May month rose by Rs 96, or 1.16 per cent to Rs 8,386 per quintal with an open interest of 23,210 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June contracts gained Rs 96, or 1.15 per cent to Rs 8,412 per quintal in 19,105 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in turmeric futures to widening of positions by traders driven by upsurge in demand in the spot market, mainly led to the rise.
