Two arrested with 120 kg of poppy straw in Kathua

Two persons were arrested and 120 kg of poppy straw was recovered from their possession in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a truck on Jammu-Pathankote national highway at Chhapar Morh in Kathua district today, police said.

The truck was on its way to Punjab from Jammu, they said, adding, during the search of the truck, 120 kg of poppy straw concealed in gunny bags was recovered.

Two persons were arrested in this connection who have been identified as Balbir Chand of Ramban and Gaurav Sharma of Jammu, police said.

A case under various sections of NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act has been registered at Police Station Hiranagar, police said.
