The wholesale gur (jaggery) market ended on a quiet note in the national capital today following sporadic demand.

On the other hand, in Muzaffarnagar, Gur chakku prices declined by Rs 100 per quintal due to slackness in demand amid increased arrivals.

Marketmen said limited buying by stockists coupled with increased arrivals mainly pulled down gur chakku prices in Muzaffarnagar.

In Muzaffarnagar, gur chakku slipped from Rs 2,450-2,600 to end at Rs 2,400-2,500 per quintal.

Meanwhile, other gur varieties in Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar remained unaltered on alternate bouts of buying and selling.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,800-2,900, pedi Rs 3,000-3,200, dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100 and shakkar Rs 3,100-3,200.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,800-2,850, chakku Rs 2,400-2,500, khurpa Rs NT. And Ladoo Rs NT.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,800-2,850 and dhayya Rs 2,900.
