Two criminals managed to escape from policy custody after some of their accomplices attacked the policemen, who were escorting the duo back from a court here.
The gang, armed with sharp-edged weapons, arrived in a car and attacked the policemen, helping the criminals -- Nishan Singh and Devinder Singh -- escape from the custody, police said.
One constable was injured in the attack.
Later, the duo fled with the gang in a car, police said, adding that Nishan and Devinder were arrested in a robbery and attempt to murder case respectively.
A manhunt has been launched to nab the criminals.
