Two drown off Konkan coast in Maharashtra

Two tourists today drowned off the Konkan coast while another one feared drowned in two separate incidents in the district when they had gone for swimming, police said.

A group of 19 youth from Pune had come to visit Guhagar. Three of them had gone to swim in the sea late evening. Out of them, one of the youth drowned while the others came to shore safely, an official at the Guhagar police station said.

A rescue operation has been launched to search him, they said.

In another incident, 7 tourists

from Nagpur went for a swim in the sea at Murud near Dapoli. Two of them droned while five safely came back to shore, an official at the Harne police station said.
 

The deceased have been identified as Ajay Reddy and Prakash Wankhede and their bodies have been fished out, the officer added.
