Mizoram Excise and Narcotics
department officials today seized 111 gms of heroin from two places and arrested two persons including a woman, department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said.
The first seizure of 14 gms of heroin was made at the Mizoram-Myanmar border Champhai town at around 11 AM and arrested Lalthanzuali (33) of nearby Kawlkulh village.
Officials in Aizawl seized 97 gms of heroin from a busy market place in Aizawl this afternoon where from Vanlalmuana (22) of Mizoram-Myanmar border Zokhawthar hamlet in Champhai district was arrested for alleged possession of the drug.
The total seized contraband was worth around Rs 3.6 lakh in the local market, the spokesperson said adding, the two accused were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
