Two armed cadre of the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) were arrested in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district along with arms and ammunition, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off that the militants are present in the district, police swung into action and arrested the two cadres from two separate locations, Superintendent of Police G D Kharwanlang told PTI.
Both the militants were sent by their higher ups to try and create a scene to show that the outfit is still active in the state, the SP said.
