Two boys were electrocuted to death and six others were injured inside a tent during a cricket match in Gulabnagar area here, police said today.

The tent was being used as a commentary box, said Inspector A G Thaker. There were 7-8 boys inside, apart from the commentator.

"Due to some unknown reason, electric current passed through the metal structure of the tent, giving a huge shock to those inside," said Thaker.

While Raj Dawoodia (11) and Jitesh Mehta (16) died, six others were injured. They were taken to a nearby hospital and were out of danger, Thaker added.

Preliminary probe revealed that the organisers were using illegal electricity connection for the event. "Organisers had tapped into the main electricity line to run their equipment which may have caused the mishap. Whether the organisers were at fault would be probed," the police officer said.
