Two NDFB(Songbijit) over ground workers (OWG) were arrested in two separate joint operations launched by the Army with the Police in lower Assam's Chirang district today, a defence spokesman said.
In the first operation, an OGW identified as Chakra Brahma, an active supporter of NDFB(S) militants, was arrested from Kusumdisha, the spokesman said.
Brahma confessed to providing food, ration and guiding 35-40 extremists across Ai River in the district as they were on the run after their camp was busted by security forces in Kokrajhar district on May 7, he said.

Chakra also confessed to being paid Rs 5,000 by Birbai, a hardcore NDFB(S) ultra for this assistance.
In the second operation, another NDFB(S) OGW identified as Thepa Basumatary was apprehended from Burijhar and he was extensively involved in extorting money from the local people, the spokesman added.
