In the second such

incident in three months, an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) of Indian Air Force today crashed in Rajasthan but there was no damage to human life or civil property.

The Israeli-made UAV-HERON, which took off from Jaisalmer airbase, crashed in Koda village, about 30 km north west of Barmer district.

Engine failure is suspected to be the reason behind the crash which took place at about 2 PM today, Wing Commander S S Birdi, IAF spokesperson told PTI.

A court of inquiry has been ordered into the crash of the UAV which was on a reconnaissance mission, he said.

There was no damage to civil property and human life as the UAV fell on the open land, he said.

This is the second such crash since November last year.

Earlier in November 2014, a Heron UAV crashed on the outskirts of a village near Bhuj town in Gujarat's Kutch district.
