Uttar Pradesh government today claimed that it had plans to provide round-the-clock electricity to the cities but there was "inadequate" supply from the Centre.
"Though Unchahar (NTPC plant) and other such power plants are in UP, the power generated here is under the control of the central government," UP minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati told reporters.
"The state government has prepared a roster for providing 16-hour electric supply to the rural areas and 24 hours to cities but it is not able to do as it is not getting adequate supply from the Centre," he said.
