Election Commission officials today held a video conference with the District Magistrates of eight divisions in the state to assess security requirements for the upcoming assembly elections next year.

Deputy Election Commissioners, Umesh Yadav and Vijay Dev held video conferencing with DMs of districts falling in Agra, Aligarh, Meerut, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Jhansi and Chitrakoot divisions in the presence of Chief Electoral Officer of UP, T Venktesh, nodal officer security and IG Law and Order, Hariram Sharma said.

The officials mainly took feedback from the DMs with regard to the security concerns as per the last elections and asked them to identify vulnerable places for the coming polls, Sharma said.

This will help in making security arrangements in the coming polls, he said adding that DMs told the officials that they have already asked sector officers to start mapping of sensitive places.

Video conferencing with officials of remaining divisions will be undertaken tomorrow, he added.
