US states file 2nd lawsuit accusing Aurobindo Pharma, others firms for violating antitrust laws

Drug Tuesday said various US states have filed a second lawsuit accusing it along with other in the US industry for violating antitrust laws by fixing prices.

"On May 10, 2019, the of the State of and additional Attorneys' of various US states filed a second lawsuit in similarly alleging that Aurobindo and other in the US industry had violated antitrust laws by fixing prices and allocating customers (the "Second Action")," the company said in a regulatory filing.

"The Second Action includes additional parties and additional products which were not referenced in the First Action," the filing added.

said it is currently reviewing the second lawsuit and said "we expect that we will be filing papers with the in due course denying each of the relevant accusations".

The Hyderabad-based firm said it does not, at this time, anticipate that these matters will have a material impact on the company's operations or business results.

Earlier in December 2016, the first lawsuit (Action) was filed in alleging that Aurobindo and other in the US industry had violated antitrust laws by fixing prices and allocating customers.

On June 18, 2018, an amended complaint was filed in the Action. "Aurobindo has denied all the relevant accusations in the Action and is vigorously defending against the matter," the company said.

Meanwhile, shares of were trading 0.40 per cent lower at Rs 714.45 apiece on BSE Tuesday.
