Ustad Amjad Ali Khan to kick-off UTSAV festival at Kennedy

Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, joined by his sons Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan, will kick-off the annual Utsav festival at the prestigious Kennedy Center here on Friday.

"We are delighted to be hosting the 3rd Edition of UTSAV in celebrating some of India's greatest legends in music and dance," said Dr Sreedhar Potarazu, the organiser of the annual event.

"We look forward to paying homage to Gandhi ji at the Inauguration with a 'Concert for World Harmony' by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and his sons," he said.

The three-day annual event, held in the Terrace Theater at The John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, the Utsav festival was founded by entrepreneur and doctor Sreedhar Potarazu to promote traditional Indian music and dance, by giving India's greatest classical artists a world-class platform to perform.
 

Among others to perform here include Sudha Ragunathan, one of India's leading Carnatic vocalists, and recipient of the prestigious Madras Music Academy Sangita Kalanidhi and Kumari Avasarala Kanyakumari, top ranking Carnatic violinist, popular as a soloist and as an accompanist.
