Varanasi: College student found dead; mob ransacks police

A college student, who had been missing since February 20, was found dead today, following which angry villagers went on rampage ransacking a police outpost and blocking the national highway connecting Delhi and Kolkata.

The body of 20-year-old Rajesh Yadav, a BA second-year student, was found near Paramhans Ashram in Seer Govardhanpur area here, Lanka police station SHO Sanjeev Mishra said.

Soon after the recovery of the body, angry residents attacked the Ramna police outpost, damaged some vehicles and blocked the national highway-2.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and an FIR has been registered against six persons, the police officer said.
