A video purportedly showing Rajasthan BJP MLA Dhan Singh Rawat's son thrashing a car driver has gone viral on social media nearly a month after the incident took place.
"The incident had happened on June 1 in the Vidhyut Colony area of Banswara district. The victim did not lodge any complaint so no arrest has been made," Banswara SP Kaluram Rawat said.
In the video, Rawat's son Rajveer is purportedly seen pulling the driver out of the vehicle on a busy road. He and his aides then thrash the driver for allegedly not giving way to his car.
The MLA, however, tried to play down the matter saying it was a "petty issue" involving children and they would settle it themselves.
After the video went viral, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and state Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria assured reporters that the matter would be looked into.
Kataria said the matter would be investigated and VIP status will not come in the way of delivering justice.
