Press Trust of India Kolkata
Senior RSS leader Suresh Joshi today said the country has not moved in the right direction after independence and was heavily influenced by western culture, and there is need for course correction.

"After 1,000 years of foreign rule, when India became independent there was a chance that we move in the direction of our age old culture, principles and heritage, where the economic, educational and social systems could have been built. But this was not done, we moved in a wrong direction," Joshi said here.

Joshi said it is "really tough" to make a course correction of the system that has been followed for the last 70 years but there is need to move forward by making adjustments with the present system.

"It is really a challenge, as you can't just move out from the path that has been built over last 70 years. We need to make adjustments with the present system and move forward and bring in a new order," he said.

Lauding the ideology and principles of senior Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Joshi said these ideology belongs to the entire country and should not be limited to a specific political party.
