A 25-year-old woman Revenue Inspector allegedly committed self immolation after her husband beat her and her father on the dowry issue at Varagur near here today.
Police said Nirmala, revenue Inspector of Varagur died on the way to the government hospital at Tiruchirappalli folloiwng burns.
There had been frequent quarrel between the woman and her husband Ilayaraja over dowry. Last night Ilayaraja had beaten both Nirmala and her father.
Police are on the lookout for Ilayaraja, who was absconding after the incident.
