Woman commits suicide over repeated abuse

A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself, apparently due to repeated domestic violence by her husband, police said today.

The deceased, Niteem Devi hanged herself to death yesterday, police said.

According to the complaint filed by the woman's father, the victim used be beaten up frequently by her husband, Dhananjay Singh.

The father alleged that Niteem killed herself when she could no longer bear the abuse, police said.

A case has been registered under Section 306 (abetment of suicide), police said, adding, investigations are underway.
