An unidentified body of a woman was today found in a box from Kotwali area here, police said today.
The incident came to light this morning after some shopkeepers near Tilak Hall at Meston Road noticed an unclaimed and apparently new box, police said.
On opening the box they found the woman's body in it and informed police, Kotwali Circle Officer SP Rohit Mishra said.
No injury marks appear on the body and prima facie strangulation seems to be the cause of the death, the SP said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the actual cause of death, he added.
The deceased appears to be around 40 years old, Mishra said, adding, further probe into the case is underway.
