Works for new building for district collectorate launched

The ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony for the Rs.19.80 crore new three-floor building to house the District Collectorate was held here today.

The ground floor of the building, with lift facility, will house the treasury, people's grievances redress cell and telephone exchange, while second floor will have the chamber for the Collector, conference hall and general offices and the third floor will house offices of different government departments, Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister, S Damodaran said, after launching the works.

Deputy speaker of Tamil Nadu assembly, Pollachi V Jayaraman, Mayor S M Velusamy, Collector Archana Patnaik and a few ruling party MLAs, were present.
 

Damodaran also launched the works for Rs 15 crore over bridge across Noyyal River and road connecting Perur-Selvapuram-Puttuvikki outer ring road.

The road will be connected with Palakkad Highway, via Sundakamuthur and Kuniyamuthur, which will benefit the road users towards Kerala, reducing the time considerably, he said adding that the project was expected to be completed in 18 months.
