Youth dies in accidental firing

A 19-year-old youth was killed when a bullet went off his pistol at Diara village in South 24 Parganas district today.

A senior police officer said Rahul Ghose, who worked as a mason, was examining a 9 mm loaded pistol at his Diara residence under Sonarpur police station area when he accidentaly pressed the trigger.

A bullet pierced his temple and Rahul died on way to the hospital.

The countrymade firearm was believed to have been illegally procured by the youth, the officer said.
