A 25-year-old youth, believed to be suffering from some psychological ailment, allegedly killed two persons with a stone on Wadi-Khadgaon Road on outskirts of the city, police said today.
The incident occurred last night when Gyaneshwar alias Gyanu Bandu Raut attacked Shyamrao Khade (47) and Om Giri (35) separately and smashed their heads with heavy stone.
Both the bodies were found at a distance from each other.
The accused was wearing blood stained clothes when he was arrested by the police within hours of the incident.
According to police, Giri, a truck driver, was attacked when he was sleeping in his vehicle in the area.
However, exact circumstances of the assault on Khade are not yet clear, police said.
Raut has a criminal history and some cases were registered against him in the past, police said, adding, they suspect that he was suffering from some mental disorder.
He has been booked under relevant sections of IPC.
