The three-day-old strike by a section of Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board (APSEB)employees in protest against the contentious power reforms was called off yesterday .

Announcing this at a press conference here, president of Andhra Pradesh Electricity Employees Union (APEEU) S Jangaiah said they had called off the indefinite strike following the undertaking given by the state government in the High Court that the union would be invited for talks.

The court has directed the government to hold discussions on the demands of the union, Jangaiah said adding the cabinet sub-committee and the union would start discussion on the issue from today.

The committee has been asked to submit the report to the government within two weeks after the conclusion of their talks. The court also made it clear that there should not be any victimisation of the employees, he said.

However, Jangaiah said the union would continue its opposition to the power reforms of the loss-making APSEB.
