Milk Demand To Touch 135 Mt

The Rs 68,000 crore dairy sector will have to produce 135 million tonnes of milk by 2010 to meet the growing economic and nutritional demand, director general, Indian Council of Agricultural Research , R S Paroda said yesterday. Milk production has to be increased from 70 million tonnes to 135 million tonnes by 2010 as the demand is expected to grow at a rate of 6 per cent , he said at the second convocation of the National Dairy Research Institute here.
