Ongc Hikes Hazira Processing Capacity

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has commissioned Rs 100 crore Hazira phase III A expansion project, enhancing the gas processing capacity to 41 million cubic metres (MMSCMD) of gas per day.
With the commissioning of the latest Hazira expansion phase, the total processing and carrying capacity of both the gas pipelines from South basin to Hazira has increased from 30 to 41 MMSCMD.
The current expansion phase will connect gas produced from Mukta, Panna and Tapti fields which are now being developed by the Reliance-Enron consortium.

ONGC has already connected Tapti gas field, which is producing gas at the rate of four mmscmd. The corporation expects to connect Panna and Mukta, B-155 and other fields from the South basin to HBJ pipeline via the expanded Hazira processing complex.
The entire Hazira complex was set up at the cost of Rs 1,300 crore.
The expansion has enabled ONGC to convert sour gas from the South basin to sweet gas for the benefit of customers along the HBJ pipeline. Besides setting up two sweetening units, the corporation has erected two gas dehydration units, one condensate fractionation unit and other related utilities and offsites.
The South basin is one of the largest gas filed in the Western Offshore with approximate recoverable reserves of 200 billion cubic metres. This basin was discovered in the eighties. ONGC first connected the basin through a 230 km pipeline with a capacity of 11 MMSCMD.
However, with gas production increasing over the years, ONGC put a second Hazira trunk line of 42 inches which was commissioned in 1996.
