Opera Software, the Norwegian software company popularly known for its Opera family of web browsers, has announced a partnership with seven handset manufacturers in Indian to pre-install Opera Mini as an exclusive third-party mobile browser across their upcoming Android devices.
These device manufacturers include Micromax, Videocon, Spice, MoMagic Technologies, Wynncon, Lemon Mobiles and iBall. As part of this partnership, Micromax has already launched its latest Canvas series of smartphones with Opera Mini. Earlier this year, Opera Software had entered into a similar partnership with seven other handset makers in India,
Opera Software has also forged similar partnerships with one device maker each in Bangladesh and Nepal.
“Partnering with local OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) in India and neighboring countries is part of our growth strategy,” Sunil Kamath, vice president for South Asia, Opera Software said. “Since the beginning of this year, more than 100 Android devices with Opera Mini preinstalled on them have been launched in India, Bangladesh and Nepal,” he added.
