Tata Teleservices (TTSL), one of the fastest growing pan-India dual technology telecom service providers, today launched its Photon Plus (mobile broadband Internet device) in the region.
The 'fastest Indian,' and Formula driver, Naren Karthikeyan, became the first customer of the product, which was upto 20 times faster than existing mobile wireless technology, Chief Executive Officer TTSL (Tamil Nadu), G Ramaprasad, told reporters on the sidelines of the launch function here.
Photon Plus service can be accessed using two devices Router for SMES and business enterprises, which was configured with an in-built modem and has Wi-Fi capabilities, and modem for individual users, he added.
Stating that the service was first launched in Chennai in last February and currently covers 51 cities and towns, Ramaprasad said the company would expand its service to 100 locations by the end of the fiscal.
On growth of wireless high speed internet access, he said there was huge potential for such device, as laptop and PC sales were showing exponential growth.
Photon, available at Rs 3,500, allows customers to simply plug in the device to the USB port on either their laptop or desktop PC and enjoy highspeed internet access, with option of selecting tariff plan based on usage needs,Ramaprasad said.
