Rural Electrification Corp on Wednesday reported nearly nine per cent increase in net profit at Rs 763 crore in the fourth quarter ended March. The power sector lender had a net profit of Rs 700.3 crore in the year-ago period. The company's total income in the March 2012 quarter increased to Rs 2,867.02 crore from Rs 2,306 crore in the same period a year ago.

State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on Wednesday reported a 21 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 3,379.81 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, against Rs 2,798 crore in the year-ago period. Total income jumped to Rs 19,987.8 crore, from Rs 18,589.25 crore in the year-ago period.

Packaged drinks maker Tata Global Beverages saw its consolidated net profit decline by 36.4 per cent to Rs 54.21 crore for the quarter ended March 31, from Rs 85.24 crore a year ago. This was on account of exceptional items such as redundancy and reorganisation costs incurred during the quarter. Net sales rose to Rs 1,724 crore, up 10.7 per cent over the corresponding period last year.
