Rallis India's arm Metahelix forms JV in Indonesia for seeds business

Rallis India, the agrochemicals company of Tata Group, has formed a joint venture in Indonesia for expanding its seeds business in the region.
“Metahelix Life Sciences Limited (Metahelix), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rallis India, has entered into a joint venture with Indonesian local partner, Suresh Gobindram Vaswani, for the establishment of a seed production and/or distribution company, PT Metahelix Lifesciences Indonesia,” said Rallis India in a BSE filing yesterday.
While Metahelix will hold 49 percent stake in the JV firm PT Metahelix Lifesciences Indonesia, the remaining will be with its partner. With this venture, Rallis aims to avail opportunities for expansion of Metahelix’s seeds business in relevant crops in South East Asia.
Metahelix, based at Bangalore, is an agricultural biotechnology company focusing on developing traits and technologies for crop protection and improved productivity. It also provides customised research to select global agri-biotech business using its proprietary technologies in crop transformation and functional genomics.
