ABB opens global business service center in Bangalore

When fully established in 2017, the center is expected to employ over 1,000 people

ABB, a leading global technology company in power and automation, opened its global business service (GBS) center in Bangalore yesterday to fuel growth and future opportunities in the country. When fully established in 2017, the center is expected to employ over 1,000 people.
 
The new center, a continuation of ABB group’s consistent investments in the country, will be a part of its wholly owned subsidiary entity. It is also integral to ABB’s Next Level strategy and marks an important step towards building a state-of-the-art business service organisation.
 
“The opening of the GBS center in India is a testimony to our commitment and confidence in partnering India’s growth story. India has always been a strategic market for ABB and this opening is an important milestone in making India a global hub for business services in the ABB Group. By simplifying and standardising our processes, we aim to increase our effectiveness and efficiency, as well as build new platforms for growth,” said Eric Elzvik, CFO and member of the executive committee of the ABB Group.

ABB in India employs close to 10,000 people and has its largest R&D center in the country. The listed entity ABB India Limited generated revenues of more than $ 1.3 billion in 2015 and invests around $ 100 million per year in the country. ABB India today has 39 factories at 12 manufacturing locations and 22 branch offices nationwide. These facilities serve the Indian market and export to countries all over the world. ABB manufactures more than 100 products in India, and has several centers of excellence devoted to developing solutions with global applications in both power and industrial automation.
