Jaguar Land Rover India (JLRIL) launched the upgraded version of Jaguar XJ, its flagship luxury saloon, with prices starting from Rs98.03 lakh (ex-showroom, pre-octroi in Mumbai).
The new Jaguar XJ combines cutting-edge technology, craftsmanship, sporting vehicle dynamics and opulent luxury and is available with a range of distinctive new features.

BMW India is going to exhibit 13 cars, including three new models and one facelift, at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016. 
The German automaker will unveil the new 7 Series under 'The future of Luxury' theme. The 3 Series facelift, which was recently launched for the Indian market, will also be showcased at the show.

Toyota's next generation offering of Innova will be called the Innova Crysta. The Innova Crysta, designed for the Indian market, will be unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo to be held from February 3-9. 
The second generation of the Japanese automaker's ultra-successful MPV has undergone a major overhaul. The Innova Crysta MPVs will boast of revised interior and exterior design and will be underpinned by a new ladder-on-frame platform.
Other design elements include touchscreen infotainment system, multi-zone climate control, projector headlamps, alloy wheels and leather seats. The engine options are expected to include a 2.4-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre petrol. Both will be offered with a six-speed manual or a six-speed AT.

Toyota christens next generation Innova as Crysta 

Tata Motors will host Season III of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship 2016, scheduled to be held on March 20, 2016, at India's globally renowned F1 race track - the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), Greater Noida.
The championship will host experienced international drivers representing six teams and will feature 12 Tata Prima race trucks built for the purpose.

Tata Motors to host Season III of T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship

If you are planning to buy Mahindra's latest offering, the KUV 100, then be ready to wait to drive your car. KUV100 waiting period, which was close to two weeks, has now increased to as much as six weeks in some cities. The wait period was the same for both petrol and diesel variants of KUV100.
When bookings of KUV100 commenced on December 19, 2015, deliveries were promised with a wait period of two weeks. In the backdrop of the anticipated demand, M&M had confirmed that production capacity at its Chakan facility would be increased from 9,000 units a month to 12,000 units in less than six months.

The Advan Sport V105 caters to the luxury segment including cars like Mercedes and Audi, while the Geolandar SUV G055 caters to crossovers. The two tyres are also Yokohama's new launches in 2016 for the Indian market.
Both are Yokohama's global flagship brands. Blue Earth A and Blue Earth are two other global concept brands. The company also manufactures Yokohama Earth-1 and S-drive in India. January 27, 2016: The Vitara Brezza, which will be introduced by Maruti Suzuki at the Auto Expo on February 3, is likely to feature a diesel engine for domestic sales in India, and a petrol version for exports.  
The Maruti SUV will be powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine, while the 1.5-litre M series engines in the petrol variant will be for exports, it is learnt. Maruti is launching the model to take on the likes of Mahindra TUV300, the Hyundai Creta and the Ford EcoSport.
 
India’s leading carmaker will showcase the Vitara Brezza at the Auto Expo and launch it a few weeks later. The SUV features wide 16" alloys nested in distinct squarish wheel arches, bold front fascia and definitive and dynamic side profile. 
The Vitara Brezza has been designed and engineered by Maruti Suzuki development teams led by the chief engineer CV Raman. The company hopes to sell around 10,000 units every month. The model will also be exported to Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

January 27, 2016: American carmaker Ford will be launching its iconic brand Mustang in India on Thursday. The vehicle will make its official debut at the Auto Expo next month. 
Ford will be launching the coupe version of the car in India. It will feature two engine options – a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine and the 5.0-litre V8 EcoBoost engine. While the former generates maximum power of 315PS and 434Nm of peak torque, the latter produces 421PS of power and 524 Nm of torque power. 
The engines will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Other key features of the Ford Mustang coupe include a protruding nose, projector headlamps and a sporty bumper. 
The new vehicle is expected to be priced around Rs50 lakhs. The Ford Mustang was a popular car among Bollywood celebrities in the 1960s and 1970s and was featured in several Hindi films.

January 27, 2016: Maruti Suzuki, which launched its 100th showroom at Thane near Mumbai, plans to expand its outlets to 250 by next year. 
“Customer feedback and surveys show us that there is a growing segment of car buying Indians who value personal care, warmth and attention in their car buying and ownership experience,” said R.S. Kalsi, executive director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. “Nexa is designed for this segment of customers. It brings together people, technology, showroom ambience and processes to deliver the desired experience to this segment of customers.” 
India’s largest carmaker launched its Nexa brand of showrooms in July last year. It is part of its initiatives to achieve the target of selling two million vehicles annually by 2020.  
S-Cross, India’s first premium crossover, and Baleno, the premium hatchback, both leaders in their respective segments, are sold exclusively through Nexa. Over 45,000 units of these models have been sold so far.

Maruti to expand Nexa network to 250 by next year

January 27, 2016: The new Bajaj V range of bikes will be unveiled by the Pune-based two-wheeler giant on February 1, days before the Auto Expo. The bikes are made from the same metal as those used in the construction of INS Vikrant, India’s first aircraft carrier. 
“We at Bajaj were determined to not allow history to fade away into oblivion,” said a voice over in a teaser video released by the company. “So we took INS Vikrant’s metal, melted it and gave it a new face.” 
India’s first aircraft-carrier, which saw action in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, was commissioned in 1961. It was decommissioned in 1997 and scrapped in 2014. Originally known as HMS Hercules, it was built for the British Navy. India bought the aircraft carrier in 1957. 
There were plans to convert it into a floating museum, but the cost of doing so was prohibitive. The navy finally sold it as scrap for about Rs60 crore. The INS Vikrant logo will be engraved on the tank of the new range of bikes.

January 27, 2016: Japanese auto majors Toyota Motors and Suzuki Motors have denied a newspaper report that they were discussing the possibility of a partnership including a cross-shareholding deal.
But Toyota confirmed that it is considering buying out the remaining 49 per cent stake in Daihatsu in which it has majority control. “We are constantly considering a number of possibilities relating to Daihatsu, such as partnerships or business restructuring, including making the company a fully owned subsidiary,” said Toyota. 
Both leading automakers, who have a strong presence in India, denied reports published by Japanese daily Nikkei that they had entered into negotiations. If the two were to combine, they could emerge as the most powerful automobile entity in India. 
The newspaper said the two were considering various options to capitalise on the huge demand for compact cars in India and other emerging economies. Daihatsu Motor Co is a rival to Suzuki and specialises in small cars, ...

Toyota, Suzuki deny talks of a possible tie-up

January 27, 2016: Toyota retained its position as the world’s top-selling automaker for the fourth year in a row. The company announced on Wednesday that together with its subsdiaries Daihatsu and Hino, it had sold 10.15 million cars and trucks in 2015. 
The Japanese automaker had been overtaken in the first half of 2015 by Volkswagen, but the German carmaker saw a sharp fall in sales following the revelation that it had fitted 11 million vehicles with devices meant to cheat pollution tests. 
The US government plans to sue Volkswagen, which got embroiled in the crisis in the second-half of 2015. The German giant sold 9.9 million vehicles in 2015, and was closely followed by General Motors (9.8 million). 
GM had traditionally been the top-selling carmaker in the world, but in 2008 it was overtaken by Toyota. However, after the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan in 2011, Toyota lost its pole position to GM.

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra will be getting equipped with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, which are interfaces that will sync with the car's infotainment system to allow a higher degree of personalization and safety to customers.
