Former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee dies at 89

New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): Former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee passed away on Monday morning. He died at the age of 89. Admitted in a private hospital on August 10, Chatterjee breathed his last at 8:15 am today. According to doctors he had a cardiac arrest. He was suffering from kidney ailment and was put on ventilator support on Saturday. Apart from this, he also suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in July. He was born on July 25, 1929 and was 10-time Lok Sabha MP. He has a credit of being one of the longest-serving parliamentarians in India. He served as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2004 to 2009.
