NTT DATA aims to reskill all its employees in India to become AI-native developers, leveraging the country's vast engineering talent pool to scale Gen AI capabilities globally, a company spokesperson has said.
It also intends to tailor its services to meet the country's unique requirements for cost sensitivity and data sovereignty/confidentiality, according to another company spokesperson.
The global IT services company, which offshores engineering resources from India, currently employs over 40,000 individuals in the country.
"India is one of the most important countries for the future... we have more than 40,000 employees in India, and our plan is to reskill all of them in order to be... AI-native developers," Carlos Galve, Head of the Global Generative AI Office, NTT DATA Corporation, told PTI.
The reskilling programme will focus on boosting productivity to support global projects.

A balanced level of humanised Artificial Intelligence (AI) design in chatbots enhances customer comfort and trust, while excessive human resemblance can cause discomfort, a new research by the Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has found.

For the same, the research team consolidated findings from 157 peer-reviewed articles to identify the key drivers, theories, and outcomes shaping consumer and AI interactions.

A PIL filed in the Delhi High Court has sought urgent steps to control hazardous air pollution levels in the national capital.
The plea said over the past several years, the ambient air quality in Delhi has deteriorated drastically, with AQI frequently entering the 'very poor', 'severe' and 'hazardous' categories, especially during winter.
The increased pollution has resulted in persistent and serious health issues among residents, including children, senior citizens and persons with pre-existing ailments, it said.
The petition has been filed by Greater Kailash-II Welfare Association, which has urged the court to order urgent, effective and scientific measures, both immediate and long-term, to control the city air pollution.
The plea said the authorities, which remained "virtually inactive" as the air quality steadily deteriorated, chose to issue "Stage III - steps to be taken" only after the AQI had crossed its critical level.

Healthcare industry body NATHEALTH has asked the government to increase public spending on healthcare to over 2.5 per cent of GDP with urgent action to tackle non-communicable diseases, including tax deductions of up to Rs 10,000 on individuals for preventive health check-ups.
In its pre-Budget recommendations to the government, NATHEALTH said it outlined a roadmap to strengthen healthcare delivery, foster innovation, and expand insurance and preventive coverage.
The recommendations call for a balanced mix of fiscal support, structural reforms, and public-private collaboration to build a robust, future-ready health system, it said in a statement.
In its recommendations, NATHEALTH asked the sector to be declared 'core infrastructure' and create a healthcare infrastructure fund of Rs 50,000 crore, saying currently there is limited access to long-term, lower-cost capital for hospitals and diagnostic networks.
