Private firm brings alternative for stubble burning in Punjab

Ludhiana (Punjab), Oct 16 (ANI): A private firm 'Farm2Energy' has set up a paddy waste management plant in Punjab's Manki village to collect stubble on its own from the fields. The company would use stubble to turn it into bio-coal, stubble powder, CNG etc.

Although the state government has taken steps to control stubble burning and has fined several errant farmers who continue to burn the stubble, but no firm changes has taken place on ground. A farmer says, "Before this we had no solution but to burn stubble.

Now all the stubble has been cleared in six villages. It is very beneficial.

We're happy. It's a permanent solution." General Secretary, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Harinder Singh Lakhowal said, "We welcome these private firms.

We are not happy in burning the stubbles, rather it is our compulsion."
