Indian Army sets up makeshift hospitals in quake-hit Kathmandu

Kathmandu, April 29 (ANI): Indian army has set up makeshift hospitals for the victims of quake-ravaged Nepal as the Himalayan nation is grappling with one of its worst earthquakes. Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, on Tuesday said that the death toll from devastating earthquake could reach 10,000. Commanding officer of Indian Army Medical Corps (AMC), Lieutenant Colonel R.K. Yadav, said that India had established four hospitals - one by Indian Air Force and other three by the army. Colonel Yadav said that the hospital could treat 20 patients at a given time and offer OPD (Outpatient Department) services to 150-200 people daily. A tourist from India was seriously injured in the quake. Both his legs were crushed under the debris. He was attended by AMC team in Kathmandu. The patient has already undergone two sessions of dialysis and he will be sent to AIIMS in New Delhi for further treatment, the surgeon added.
