Karachi, Nov 12 (ANI): The Hindu community in Pakistan celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, on Wednesday. In Karachi, around 400 Hindus attended a Diwali gathering at the illuminated and well decorated Swami Narayan Temple. The Hindu community attended Diwali prayers and festivities in full strength. Diwali, which falls in October or November, celebrates the return of King Rama' to his kingdom of Ayodhya after 14 years of self-exile and after his victory over the demon king Ravana. Legend says millions of lamps were lit when he returned. Diwali is also celebrated to honour Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. It is believed that Lakshmi enters only those homes that are clean and well lit.
