The Andhra Pradesh government has constituted a committee with the state's special representative in Delhi, Kambhampati Ramamohan Rao, special chief secretary (planning) SP Tucker and principal secretary (energy) Ajay Jain to pursue Japanese investments.Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked the committee to identify the sectors that the Japanese companies are interested to invest in and also work with the administration in securing speedy clearances for their investment proposals.Japanese ambassador Takeshi Yagi, who met the AP chief minister today, informed that his country had identified a separate investment task force for AP. The task force will look for prospective investors, coordinate their visits and work closely with the state government, according to the chief minister's office.Ambassador Yagi also evinced interest in joining AP in concept master-planning of the capital city, the chief minister's office said.

BS REPORTER Hyderabad, 19 December National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has approved a Rs 18.3-crore loan to Hyderabad-based talent and skill development firm Skillpro.The proposal to provide funding to Skillpro to help augment its capacity and train 500,000 individuals with employability skills in the next two to three years was among the 160 such proposals cleared by the board of NSDC as part of its mandate to improve youth employability.  The NSDC funding, which comes in three to four 4 tranches, coupled with another Rs 7 crore from its own sources, would help Skillpro create 220 skilling centres in the country in the next three years. Skillpro currently runs more than 50 skill centres across 16 states."NSDC supports funding any sustainable programme, which skills at least 50,000 over a period of 10 years. The move is a first step towards the creation of a family trust that would take care of the promoter group's holding in the company as was done by other Hyderabad-based companies as a part of the succession plan. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday claimed that the previous Congress-NCP government deprived Vidarbha region of over Rs  6,000 crore of development funds despite the directives from the Governor. Sebi has slapped a hefty penalty of over Rs  21 crore on Gujarat Arth Ltd's promoters and persons acting in concert (PACs) for fraudulent activities in the capital market as well as violation of takeover norms.The capital market regulator found that the eight entities comprising Gujarat Arth's promoters and PACs had issued misleading corporate announcements in 2003 and 2004. Further, the entities were found involved in selling Gujarat Arth's shares in the market "in and around the time of misleading announcement which created artificial volume and impacted the price of the scrip thus defrauding investors".  The entities had also failed to make public announcement and relevant disclosures regarding the share transactions.In a ruling on Friday, Sebi imposed a penalty of Rs  2.61 crore on Shiv Kumar Agarwal as well as Rs  2.53 crore each on Roselabs Finance.
