Russian air strike on Ukraine aid distribution at school branded war crime

A Russian airstrike on a school in southern Ukraine killed four adults as people gathered to receive humanitarian aid, the governor of Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region said on Monday, branding the incident "a war crime. Three women and a man, all in their 40s, died in Sunday's attack in the town of Orikhiv, Gov. Yuriy Malashko said. A guided aerial bomb caused an explosion at the school, Malashko said, without providing evidence. Eleven other people were wounded in the attack, he said. West Bengal: Death toll in panchayat election violence rises to 15

The toll in the violence during panchayat elections in West Bengal rose to 15 after a person was found dead in South 24 Parganas, and two others succumbed to their injuries, officials said on Sunday. A person, identified as Abu Salem Khan, was found dead near a polling booth in West Gabtala in ??Kultali police station area. He had injuries on his head, they said. He was known to be a TMC worker in the area, locals said. Police said they are investigating the cause of the death. Tension was palpable in the area, and a large police contingent was deployed to prevent any further flare-up. Three people were killed and eight others injured when shots were fired into a crowd of hundreds following a festival in a Texas neighbourhood, authorities said. Four minors and a woman were killed and several others injured when a truck in which they were travelling overturned and fell into a river in Madhya Pradesh's Datia district on Wednesday, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra said. The accident took place in the wee hours near Buhara village in Datia district when some people from Gwalior were going to Jatara in Tikamgarh district for a marriage ceremony, Mishra told reporters. The truck carrying the people, belonging to Khatik community, overturned and fell into the Buhara river, he said. A 65-year-old woman, a boy aged 15 and three other children were killed in the accident, he said. Many others were injured. Assam flood situation grim, death toll at 3, over 4 lakh people hit

The flood situation in Assam remained grim on Saturday with the death toll rising to three and over 4 lakh people across 15 districts reeling under the deluge, an official bulletin said. Most of the rivers in the state continued to be in spate, it said. The flood waters claimed the life of a man in Nalbari district, taking the total toll to three so far, Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said in its report. The water level of the Brahmaputra river was flowing above the danger mark at Tezpur and Nematighat in Jorhat. Altogether, 4,07,771 people, including 1,67,538 women and 53,119 children, are reeling under the impact of the deluge, the report said. The affected districts are Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Chirang, Darrang, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari and Tamulpur. An explosion at a steel mill in China's northeast killed four people and left five hospitalised with injuries, the city government said on Friday. A blast furnace exploded Thursday morning at the Yingkou Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. in Yingkou, east of Beijing in Liaoning province, the city's Emergency Management Bureau said in a statement.
