Ruling BJP lawmaker Jayant Sinha on Wednesday said the rate at which India is creating formal jobs is insufficient and there is a need to focus on opening up quality employment avenues for the people. MoUs for Rs 1,723 cr investment signed in TN, expected to generate 30K jobs

Investments worth Rs 1,723.05 crore were confirmed at the International Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day function held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister M K Stalin here on Tuesday while a special government scheme for SC/ST entrepreneurs was also launched. The MoU, signed in the presence of the Chief Minister, would help in creating employment for about 30,000 people. Union Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Thursday said the country has seen massive increase in employment opportunities in the last nine years and about 1.25 crore new jobs have been created since 2014. White collar hiring activity flat in May, IT sector's woes continue: Report

The hiring activity in India's white-collar professional segment, remained steady in May and witnessed multi-sectoral growth across sectors such as real estate, banking, oil and gas and pharma, a report said on Thursday. According to the Naukri JobSpeak Index, the job postings for white collar hiring in May 2023 was at 2,849, as against 2,863 in May 2022. The relatively flat growth in index masks strong divergence in hiring trends across different sectors and geographies, said the report. The Naukri JobSpeak Index is a monthly Index representing the state of the Indian job market and hiring activity based on new job listings and job-related searches by recruiters on the resume database of Naukri.com. West Bengal school jobs scam accused Sujay Krishna Bhadra arrested by ED

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday night arrested Sujay Krishna Bhadra for his alleged involvement in the illegal appointments made in different state-run and aided schools in West Bengal, an official said. Bhadra, popular as 'Kalighat er Kaku' (Uncle from Kalighat), was arrested following a 12-hour-long grilling by ED officials at the agency's city office in connection with their ongoing investigation into the scam. "He did not cooperate with our officers during today's questioning. We tried a lot to get answers to some relevant questions connected to the job scam," the ED officer told PTI over the phone. Bhadra had appeared before the ED officials earlier in the day after he was served a notice by the central investigating agency last week. Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan permits notification for 1,000 Group I, II jobs

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday gave the green signal to issue a notification to recruit nearly 1,000 people under Group - I and Group - II services.
