Delhi govt begins trial of 'e-Abkari' to replace excise information system

The Delhi government on Thursday started trial run of an NIC-developed e-Abkari portal to replace the existing excise supply chain information management system platform to handle retail liquor business, officials said. During the trial period, the e-Abkari portal will be used by 10 liquor vends operated by each of four government corporations as well as over 30 excise licensed hotels, clubs and restaurants, said a source in the Excise department. The portal will be used for placing stock orders, generate transit permits and complete other formalities online by the selected licensees, he said. The excise supply chain information management system (ESCIMS) portal developed by a private IT firm for the Excise department of Delhi government and being operated since 2013 will be replaced once the e-Abkari website is fully ready after the trial run, he said. Radico Khaitan Q1FY25 results: Net profit up 13.4% to Rs 77.38 cr

Liquor maker Radico Khaitan Ltd on Wednesday reported a 13.36 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs 77.38 crore for the first quarter ended June 2024. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 68.26 crore in the April-June quarter a year ago, according to a BSE filing from Radico Khaitan. Its revenue from operations was up 9.12 per cent to Rs 4,265.62 crore during the quarter under review. It was Rs 3,908.94 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Radico Khaitan's total expenses increased 8.93 per cent to Rs 4,167.92 crore in the June quarter. The total income of Radico Khaitan in the June quarter was at Rs 4,269.30 crore, up 9.18 per cent. Allied Blenders Ltd gets Sebi's approval to float Rs 1,500-crore IPO

Allied Blenders and Distillers Ltd, the maker of Officer's Choice Whisky, has received Sebi's go-ahead to raise Rs 1,500 crore through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), an update with the markets regulator showed on Tuesday. The initial share sale comprises fresh issuance of equity shares worth Rs 1,000 crore and an Offer-for-Sale (OFS) of shares to the tune of Rs 500 crore by promoters, according to the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP). As a part of the OFS, Bina Kishore Chhabria, Resham Chhabria Jeetendra Hemdev and Neesha Kishore Chhabria will sell shares. Allied Blenders and Distillers Ltd, which filed preliminary IPO papers with Sebi in January, obtained its observations on May 10, the update showed. In Sebi's parlance, obtaining observations means its go-ahead to float the public issue. LS polls: Liquor shops to remain closed for 3 days from April 17 in Pondy

All liquor, toddy, arrack shops and also clubs, bars and restaurants serving liquor will remain closed for three days from April 17 in Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions in view of Lok Sabha polls slated to be held on April 19 in the union territory. A notification of the Puducherry State Gazette said that the Lieutenant Governor has issued an order directing closure of the shops, clubs, bars and restaurants serving liquor to ensure "fair and peaceful polls in the Union Territory". The notification also said that all these shops and restaurants, bars and clubs would also remain closed on June 4 on account of counting of the votes. Court extends ED custody of Kavitha till Mar 26 in Delhi excise policy case

A court here on Saturday extended the Enforcement Directorate custody of BRS leader K Kavitha, an accused in the Delhi excise policy scam case, till March 26. The federal probe agency has sought a five-day extension of her custody. The ED has alleged that Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, was a key member of the 'South Group' that has been accused of paying the AAP kickbacks of Rs 100 crore in return for a big share of liquor licences in the national capital. After producing her in court, the ED said that she was confronted with the statements of four people and a forensic report of the data extracted from her phone. The probe agency also told the court that raids were being conducted at the house of her nephew in Hyderabad. BRS leader's counsel filed a bail plea in court. Kavitha, 46, a Telangana Legislative Council member, was arrested by the central probe agency from her residence at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad on March 15.

Himachal govt earned Rs 91 cr from milk cess on liquor: Industries minister

Himachal Pradesh government earned Rs 90.78 crore from milk cess of Rs 10 per bottle on liquor and the figure is likely to touch Rs 100 crore, Industries minister Harshwardhan Chauhan said on Monday. The state government earned Rs 90.78 crore from milk cess on liquor till January 31, 2024, Chauhan said during the Question Hour in Vidhan Sabha. Replying to a question of Randhir Sharma (BJP) and Kewal Singh Pathania (Congress), on behalf of the chief minister, the minister said that the money would be used for increasing the income of milk producers and strengthening the milk sector infrastructure. Radico Khaitan Q3 results: Net profit up 23% to Rs 75 cr, revenue up 34%

Liquor maker Radico Khaitan Ltd on Tuesday reported a 22.75 per cent increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 75.15 crore for the third quarter ended December 2023. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 61.22 crore in the October-December quarter a year ago, Radico Khaitan said in a BSE filing. Its revenue from operations rose 34.1 per cent to Rs 4,245.95 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year. It stood at Rs 3,166.19 crore in the year-ago period. Radico Khaitan's total expenses were up 34.28 per cent to Rs 4,152.65 crore in the latest December quarter. Shares of Radico Khaitan Ltd on Tuesday settled at Rs 1,720.95 on BSE, down 0.96 per cent from the previous close.
