South Korean giant Posco has scrapped its plan to set up a 12 million tonne steel mill in Odisha and has written to the state government stating its intention to surrender the land allotted to it for the project near the port city Paradip. This is the second big ticket FDI project to leave the state after Arcellor Mittal walked out of its Odisha project, also of 12 million tonne capacity, in 2013. "We have received a letter from Posco expressing its intention to surrender the land allotted to it as it is not in a position to pursue the project", said an official of the state industries department.
