Reddy skips Union Cabinet meet after appointment as Telangana BJP president

A day after his appointment as the Telangana BJP president, Union minister G Kishan Reddy skipped the meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. Though no official reason was cited for his absence, some leaders believe it could be an indication of his likely exit from the Union Cabinet ahead of its expected reshuffle. Reddy, the Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of the North East Region, was on Tuesday appointed as the president of the BJP's Telangana unit. The BJP also has the norm of one-person-one-post. A source close to Reddy declined to comment on whether he will be quitting from the Cabinet. He has been a dedicated party worker for decades and will discharge whatever responsibility its leadership assigns to him, the source said. Take steps to prevent shortage of drinking water and irrigation needs: KCR

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday instructed the officials to take measure on a war footing to stockpile water in the State's reservoirs from Krishna and Godavari rivers including 'Kaleshwaram'--multi-purpose lift irrigation project. Rao, also known as KCR, held a high level meeting with officials at Secretariat on rainfall, availability of water in the rivers like Pranahita, water storage in the state's reservoirs, electricity demand etc, an official release said. KCR wanted the officials to take steps to prevent shortage of drinking water and irrigation needs in the state, in view of deficient rainfall during June. The Chief Minister advised the officials to give priority to supply of drinking water and to monitor water reserves in the reservoirs under the Godavari and Krishna continuously. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay foundation stone for various development projects at Warangal in Telangana on July 8, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy said on Sunday. He said Modi would visit the famous Bhadrakali temple before attending the events and would also address a public meeting. The Union Minister said the Centre has, in principle, decided to establish a wagon manufacturing unit at Warangal. "I am conveying this with happiness to people of Warangal on behalf of Narendra Modi ji that wagons manufacturing unit is going to come up in Warangal town," he told reporters at Warangal. He said the proposed unit to be set up by the Centre would have the capacity to manufacture 200 wagons per month. The cost of the unit, its employment potential and other details would be announced soon, he said. "But, in principle, Government of India, decided to establish wagon manufacturing unit at Warangal city, (with) per month more than 200 wagons manufacturing capacity," he said.

Ruling BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday left for a visit to Solapur in Maharashtra. Telangana CM on 2-day Maharashtra tour from June 26, to visit temple towns

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will visit Pandharpur and Tuljapur temple towns during his two-day visit to Maharashtra starting from Monday, a functionary of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) said.
