Yadav bahus' show of power: Dimple campaigns for Aparna

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 15 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's elder daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav arrived at a joint public meeting to campaign for her sister-in-law Aparna Yadav in Lucknow on Wednesday. Aparna Yadav, wife of Mulayam's younger son Prateek Yadav, is contesting for the ongoing assembly polls from Lucknow Cantt against BJP's Rita Bahuguna Joshi. Earlier today, Mulayam Singh also addressed a mass gathering at the same venue.

Watch: Election Commission briefs media after voting ends in UP, Uttarakhand

New Delhi, Feb 15 (ANI): The Election Commission on Wednesday thanked the voters of Uttar Pradesh and supporting organisations for conducting free, fair and inclusive elections into a 'festival of democracy.' Complimenting the tireless services rendered by the police, electoral machinery and other supporting organisations, the Election Commission said that the polling was conducted in a peaceful manner.

Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi, Rajinikanth cast their votes in TN

Tamil Nadu, May 16 (ANI): Voting for the first phase of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections begins at 7 a.m on Monday amid tight security. Prominent personalities like Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, DMK chief M Karunanidhi, his son and DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin, Karunanidhi's daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and matinee idols Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan also joined the common man in casting their votes. Tamil Nadu has recorded 25.2 percent turnout by 11 a.m.

Voting begins in Kerala, Puducherry

Kerala/ Puducherry, May 16 (ANI): The first phase of the Kerala and Puducherry Assembly elections began on Monday with beefed up security, including adequate deployment of Central paramilitary forces. The polling started at 7 a.m. and would end at 6 p.m. Kerala would see polling for its 140 seats assembly. In Puducherry, 30 seats would go for polls.

Tamil Nadu polls: Voting begins in 233 constituencies

Chennai (TN), May 16 (ANI): The first phase of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections began on Monday with beefed up security, including adequate deployment of Central paramilitary forces. In Tamil Nadu, voting will take place for 233 seats. All the materials reached at all booths in the 233 constituencies. All non-sensitive booths will have policeman, while central paramilitary force personnel will provide security cover to the sensitive and hypersensitive booths.

MCD Polls: Voting in 13 wards underway

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): Voting for civil by-polls in thirteen wards across three Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCD) areas is currently underway. The polling started at 8 a.m. and would end at 5 p.m. While nine wards have remained unrepresented since December 2013, the rest are lying vacant since February 2015. The polls would witness a three way contest between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. The results of the by-polls would be declared on May 17.

Crude bomb blast kills four, injures three in Malda

Malda, May 02 (ANI): Four persons were killed and three others injured when a crude bomb exploded in Jainpur village of West Bengal's Malda district. The blast occurred around 11.30 p.m. on Sunday. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Police said they have begun an investigation of the incident.

West Bengal records high voter turnout on penultimate polling day

Kolkata, New Delhi, May 01 (ANI): West Bengal recorded a high voter turnout of 78.25 percent in the fifth phase of the ongoing assembly elections. As many as 53 constituencies across three districts went to polls amid tight security on Saturday, the results of which will determine the state's next government. Polling started at 7 a.m. and ended at 6 p.m. across 14,500 booths as the Election Commission (EC) recorded a high voter turnout. Deputy Election Commissioner of India, Sandeep Saxena, said the figure is likely to increase as more data are awaited. The multi-phased elections in Bengal will conclude on May 05. The results for the polls will be announced on May 19.

WB polls: TMC, CPIM workers clash, 1 injured

Arambag (WB), Apr 30 (ANI): A clash broke out between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI(M) workers in Arambag area of Hooghly district, where phase five of the West Bengal Assembly polls are underway. CPI(M) workers alleged that TMC supporters threatened people not to vote and that's how the dispute started. In the clash, one of the CPI (M) supporter sustained injuries.

WB Polls: Polling underway for 53 seats

Singur/Jadavpur/Kolkata, Apr 30 (ANI): Fifth phase of the West Bengal assembly elections for 53 constituencies in 24 Parganas Dakshin, Hooghly and Kolkata Dakshin districts is currently underway amidst tight security. As many as 680 companies of central forces have been deployed in all the three poll-bound districts for smooth polling. As many as 22,000 personnel of the Bengal Police have also been put on election duty. The Central Security Forces have taken special measures to dominate the 5,298 sensitive pockets by launching day-night vigil checks. About 1.24 crore voters are expected to exercise their franchise to elect their representative from 349 candidates, including 43 women, at 14, 642 polling booths, including 1075 model booths and 390 ladies booths.

Kerala assembly polls: CM Oommen Chandy files nomination papers from Puthuppally

Kottayam (Kerala), Apr 29 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who is contesting as the Congress-led UDF candidate from Puthuppally constituency, on Friday filed his nomination papers for the May-16 assembly polls. Chandy is contesting from the same constituency for the 11th time in a row. He offered prayers at the local church and at the graves of his parents before proceeding to file his nomination papers. Chandy was accompanied by his son Chandy Oommen, Kottayam MP Jose K Mani and thousands of party and UDF workers as he arrived at the office of the Block Development Officer at Pallikathodu in Puthuppally.

West Bengal polls phase 4: Voting begins in 49 constituencies

West Bengal, Apr 25 (ANI): The fourth phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections began on Monday with beefed up security, including adequate deployment of Central paramilitary forces. 49 constituencies spread over North 24 Parganas and Howrah districts are going to polls in this phase. 345 candidates, including 40 women, are in the fray for this phase. Across 49 seats in North 24 Parganas, Bidhannagar and Howrah district, a total of 1.08 crore voters will exercise their franchise in about 12,500 polling stations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

West Bengal Phase 3 polls frenzy: Voting begins

Murshidabad/ Kolkata, Apr 21 (ANI): The third phase of West Bengal Assembly election began on Thursday at 7 a.m. in poll-bound districts of Murshidabad, Nadia, Burdwan and North Kolkata. People came in large numbers outside polling booths in Murshidabad for voting in the third phase of West Bengal election. Polling is being held in 62 constituencies, including seven constituencies in Kolkata. Altogether 418 candidates, including 34 female, are in the fray in 62 seats spread over Murshidabad, Nadia, Burdwan districts and north Kolkata. Stringent security measures have been taken in all the polling centres in Kolkata and the three districts.
