Sivasagar (Assam), Mar 30 (ANI): Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday slammed the Centre over the current political turmoil in Uttarakhand saying that the Narendra Modi-led Government is trying every means possible to dissolve the Congress party chosen by the people of the state. While addressing a rally in Assam's Sivasagar, Sonia accused Centre of conspiring to destroy the democracy of India. Sonia further asked the people of Assam to not allow such an anarchist, political party to rule the state.

Gandhi, who was addressing a rally in Assam's Sivasagar, praised the efforts of Chief Minister Tarun Gogai and said that Gogoi has struggled day and night to maintain peace and take the state to new heights.
Duliajan (Assam), Mar 30 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that the Congress has always failed to deal with the infiltration of illegal migrants from Bangladesh into Assam and promised that if his Bharatiya Janata Party is voted to power, steps will be taken to complete the fencing of the Assam-Bangladesh border to curb illegal immigration .Singh was addressing a rally in the poll-bound Assam's Duliajan town.The state will have the first phase of polls on April 4 for 65 seats.

Gandhi also said that the Congress has brought peace in Assam in the last15 years and it is one of their biggest achievements. The Congress vice-president attacked Prime Minister Modi saying the latter failed to keep his promise of bringing back the 'black money'. He even said that Prime Minister Modi took away the special status of Assam under which the state used to get thousands of crores of rupees during the Congress regime.

Sarihajan (Assam), Mar 28 (Ani): Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to become a dictator by extending his party's rule over all the states. Slamming Modi's intentions, Gogoi said they would not allow it to happen in Assam. He alleged that the BJP-led government wanted to topple him with the help of former Assam health and education minister Himanta Biswa before the elections by spending thousands of crores of rupee.

Tinsukia (Assam), Mar 26 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who kicked off the BJP's campaign in poll-bound Assam on Saturday, said that he wanted to fight corruption in the state and not Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. Addressing a rally in Tinsukia district, Prime Minister Modi lashed out at the Congress Party and said Assam, which was one of the most prosperous states at the time of independence, is one of the poorest today. Prime Minister Modi assured that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power then the poorest of poor would have access to basic amenities which they were presently lacking. Highlighting his agenda for development of Assam, he said that the situation in the state would change if three things were done that is education to poor, provision of income to youth and medicines to the old. Prime Minister Modi also used the occasion to highlight his party's chief ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal.
