PF balance on WhatsApp, automatic payouts: EPFO’s new services explained

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched two new facilities from November 1, allowing subscribers to check their PF balance, latest five transactions and passbook details through WhatsApp. It has also introduced automatic settlement for eligible inoperative EPF accounts with balances of up to ₹1,000, eliminating the need to file individual claims. After identity and bank verification, the money will be transferred to Aadhaar-seeded, EPFO-linked bank accounts. Around one lakh accounts, involving approximately ₹5 crore, are expected to benefit.
